Connect Instagram Business

A complete step-by-step guide to link Instagram with your Facebook Page and connect it to OneTwoAgent.

Before you start

  • Use an Instagram Professional account (Business or Creator). Personal accounts are not supported for this connection flow.
  • Your Instagram account must be linked to the Facebook Page you use for business messaging.
  • Use a Facebook user that has full Page access (admin-level) for that Page.
  • If you manage multiple Pages, decide in advance which exact Page is linked to the Instagram account you want to connect.

Part 1. Switch Instagram to Professional mode (if needed)

  1. 1Open Instagram app>Profile>Menu> Settings and privacy
  2. 2Open Account type and tools
  3. 3Tap Switch to professional account
  4. 4Choose Business (recommended) or Creator
  5. 5Finish setup and keep your public username exactly as you want customers to see it
Notes
  • UI labels can differ by app version and locale. If names are slightly different, look for equivalent options around Account type and Professional tools.

Part 3. Alternative linking path from Facebook Page settings

  • You can also link from the Facebook side if Instagram does not show Page controls.
  1. 1Open Facebook app and log in with the same user that manages your business Page
  2. 2Switch to your Page profile
  3. 3Open Page settings > linked accounts / connected accounts
  4. 4Select Instagram and connect the same Instagram Professional account
  5. 5Confirm linkage and return to OneTwoAgent connection flow
Caution
  • If labels differ in your Facebook app, look for sections named Linked accounts, Instagram, Connected accounts, or Account linking.

Step 1. Connect Instagram in OneTwoAgent

  1. 1Open Dashboard>Channels>Connect> Instagram
  2. 2Click Connect Instagram
  3. 3Continue with the Facebook account that manages your Page.
  4. 4Approve all requested permissions in Meta.
  5. 5If Meta asks to choose a Page, select the Page already linked to your Instagram Professional account.
  6. 6Return to OneTwoAgent and wait for status Connected.

Step 2. If you have multiple Pages in Meta

  • OneTwoAgent may ask you to select one Page after authorization.
  • Choose the Page that is linked to the Instagram account your customers message.
  • If you choose the wrong Page, disconnect and connect again with the correct one.

Step 3. Confirm it works

  1. 1Send a test DM to your Instagram account from another account.
  2. 2Open OneTwoAgent > Conversations.
  3. 3Check that the new Instagram conversation appears in the inbox.
  4. 4Send a reply from OneTwoAgent and confirm it is delivered in Instagram.

What happens after successful connection

  • Instagram messages start appearing in Conversations.
  • Your team can reply from OneTwoAgent, no need to answer inside Instagram app.
  • Images, voice/audio, and file attachments are shown in the conversation when provided by Instagram.

Quick pre-check before pressing Connect

  1. 1Instagram account is Professional (Business or Creator).
  2. 2Instagram is linked to the exact Facebook Page you intend to use.
  3. 3You are logged in with the correct Facebook user.
  4. 4That Facebook user has full Page access.
  5. 5You are ready to approve all requested permissions.

Common issues and quick fixes

  • No Pages in connection flow: you are likely in the wrong Facebook account, missing Page access, or did not grant required permissions. Reconnect and approve all prompts.
  • Error about missing permissions: reconnect and accept all Meta permissions, especially messaging-related permissions.
  • Connection completes but no incoming chats: verify customers message the same Instagram account that is linked to the selected Page.
  • No Instagram account found for selected Page: link Instagram to that Page first, then reconnect.
  • Temporary Meta block or rate limit: wait 1-2 minutes and try again (preferably without VPN).
Notes
  • If issues persist, disconnect Instagram in Channels and run the connection flow again from the start.
