Connect WhatsApp Business
This guide explains how to connect WhatsApp Business to OneTwoAgent and what to expect after connection.

Before you start
- You can connect only WhatsApp Business. A personal WhatsApp account cannot be connected.
- Meta requires your WhatsApp number to be inside a Meta Business Portfolio (Business Manager). If you skip it, WhatsApp may not appear in the connection flow.
Step 1. Create or choose your Meta Business Portfolio
- Open Meta Business.
- Log in with the Facebook account that will own and manage the WhatsApp number.
Notes
- If you do not have a Business Portfolio yet: open Business Settings, create a Business, enter business name and work email, and finish setup.
- If you already have one: confirm you selected the correct business and have Admin access.
- If you do not have Admin access, ask the owner to grant Admin permissions.
Step 2. Add your WhatsApp account and phone number in Meta
- 1Go to Accounts > WhatsApp accounts in Meta Business Settings.
- 2Add a WhatsApp account (new or existing).
- 3Open your WhatsApp account > Phone numbers.
- 4Add your number and complete verification if Meta asks.
Notes
- After this step, your WhatsApp account and phone number should be visible inside the same Business Portfolio.
Step 3. Connect WhatsApp in OneTwoAgent
- 1Open Channels>Connect>WhatsApp Business.
- 2Meta opens a connection window. Select the same Business Portfolio from Step 1 and Step 2.
- 3Choose one of the two connection options below.
Option A (recommended). Connect an existing WhatsApp Business app number
- Use this if you already use the WhatsApp Business app and want to keep existing chats.
- You can continue using the WhatsApp Business app normally after connection.
- After the 24-hour window closes, you can still message from the WhatsApp Business app.
- 1In Meta connection window, choose existing WhatsApp Business app number.
- 2Enter your WhatsApp Business phone number.
- 3Meta shows a QR code.
- 4Open WhatsApp Business app on phone.
- 5Open Linked devices / Connect a device.
- 6Scan QR code and confirm.
- 7Return to OneTwoAgent and wait for channel status Connected.
Option B. Connect a new number dedicated to WhatsApp Business API
- Use this if you want a separate number for OneTwoAgent without WhatsApp Business app history.
- 1In Meta connection window, choose setup a new number.
- 2Enter the phone number.
- 3Complete verification (SMS or voice).
- 4Return to OneTwoAgent and wait for channel status Connected.
WhatsApp 24-hour messaging window
- OneTwoAgent can send free-form WhatsApp messages only within 24 hours after customer's last inbound message.
- After 24 hours, OneTwoAgent will not send free-form WhatsApp messages.
- If you use Option A, you can still reply from the WhatsApp Business app.
- If outbound is needed outside the window, WhatsApp requires approved templates.
Quick checks if connection does not work
- WhatsApp account not visible in Meta window: usually wrong Business Portfolio selected or number not attached to that business.
- Connection completed but no messages: confirm customer uses the same connected number and channel status is Connected.

Common questions
Can I connect a personal WhatsApp account?
No. This flow supports WhatsApp Business only. A personal WhatsApp account cannot be connected.
Do I need Meta Business Manager for WhatsApp setup?
Yes, in practice your WhatsApp number should be inside a Meta Business Portfolio, otherwise WhatsApp may not appear correctly in the connection flow.
